Drexel senior and graduate fashion design students displayed collections that embraced the intricacies of Old World handcraft skills at Urban Outfitters corporate headquarters in the Navy Yard on June 2.
Twenty-three seniors and 10 graduate students from the Westphal College of Media Arts & Design exhibited unique pieces with embroidery, hand-painted/dyed textiles, pleating, draping, creping, and textured knitting. These traditional techniques were fused with digital design methods including laser-cutting, 3D printing and digital knitting to achieve elements such as distinctive layering and hidden interior construction.
This hybrid to digital craft produces works of art as well as sustainable and wearable garments. Check out this year’s award-winning collections:
